In this challenge, show us an example where nature, such as plants, insects, spiders or other small creatures, has used a man-made object to its advantage. Macro or close-ups only, and outside in the natural world if possible. Large trees such as those growing at Ta Prohn in Cambodia will be DQ'd. SIZE: 1,600px MAXIMUM ON LONGER SIDE.

Processing rules:

SIZE: Longer side of entry, MAXIMUM 1600px.
Digital photos only, with full EXIF data.
Colour only.
No HDR.
Don't remove the background.
TITLE: Give your entry a title, not just an photo number.
NO watermarks or forms of identification, or personal website references.

Capture date rules:

No restrictions.

No photos from previous DPR challenges can be entered in this challenge.
Encouraging comments about entries are welcome.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE! If you enter the challenge, take the time to vote on other entries! This will hopefully counteract the sandbaggers' votes which spoil the genuine results for everyone's entries.
Sandbagging, and vote solicitation will cause DQ'ing of entries, please don't even contemplate it!
Entrants or voters caught cheating will be unwelcome in my future challenges.

Perhaps the theme should have included the word "permanent". I for one would not have entered with that restriction but thanks for your tolerance.

How permanent is a spiders' web, or a bird's nest? It's been an interesting learning experience for me. And the voters will decide what they like. :-)

This challenge has attracted some REALLY excellent entries of close-up or macro examples where nature has used a man-made object or structure to its advantage. This is what I had expected in this challenge, and thought I had made that fairly clear in my theme.
However, there have been numerous entries where the subjects are too large, or too distant, or too fleeting to be considered a permanent use of the man-made object. (How long does a bird stay on a wire before flying away?)
In the interests of not pulling out too much more of my hair, I'm letting many of these questionable entries stay in the challenge, and the voters will be able to decide what they feel is the correct interpretation of the theme. (Just because I think it should be interpreted one way does NOT mean that I'm right and others are wrong!)

Bird drinking from a fountain - is it acceptable ?

Um, IMO, this is too transient and fleeting. If the bird had made its nest in the empty, abandoned fountain, then that would probably be okay.
I can see how I'm going to get into all sorts of strife (again) in this challenge trying to figure out what is okay and what isn't. You'll have to be a bit patient with me, as I'm learning too.
