Please read these rules before entering the Connect Photography Contest (“Contest”). By submitting an entry, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to be bound by these Official Rules, our Privacy Policy and the decisions of Sponsor and the judges, and that you satisfy all eligibility requirements.

ELIGIBILITY. Open to individuals who are the older of 18 years of age or the legal age of majority in his/her jurisdiction of residence and have the full legal capacity to participate in this Contest at time of entry. Not open to employees or independent contractors, or immediate family members (spouses, domestic partners, parents, grandparents, siblings, children, and grandchildren) or those living in the same household of employees or independent contractors of Sponsor, any entity involved in any aspect of the Contest (including funding, judging or administration), advertising agencies, and each of their respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, advisors, or advertising/promotion agencies. The Contest and these Official Rules are void in Quebec and where prohibited by law, and are subject to applicable laws. Entrants may not be a national or legal permanent resident of any of the following countries: Burma, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan or Syria. Entrants may not be members of any guild, union or other organization that may prohibit them from participating in this Contest and that would restrict, require due payment or otherwise have the right to oppose such entrant’s participation in this Contest.

HOW TO ENTER. Contest entry period begins at 12:00:01 a.m. (PT) o September 24, 2012 and ends at 11:59:59 p.m. (PT) on October 24, 2012 (“Entry Period”). To enter, during the Entry Period you must:

  1. Go to;
  2. Upload a photo that best illustrates the word “Connect” (“Photo”); and
  3. Complete and submit the entry form with your Photo.

The Photo and completed entry form are collectively referred to as the “Entry”. All Entries must be received by 11:59:59 p.m. (PT) on October 24, 2012. The Photo must: (a) be the original creation of entrant; (b) be a minimum resolution of 600 x 600 pixels and a maximum resolution of 2048 x 2048 pixels; (c) be in .jpg or .jpeg file format; and (c) be suitable for family viewing on a national news network and meet other reasonable community standards. Each winner will be required to submit the original image of his/her Photo to Sponsor as requested for verification purposes.

Limit one Entry per person and e-mail address. In the event any entrant submits more than one Entry, the first Entry received by Sponsor will be deemed that entrant’s Entry. Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify at any time any Entry containing obscene, offensive, pornographic or sexually explicit material, or libelous, disparaging or other inappropriate content or subject matter (as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion). All Entries that violate any intellectual property, local, state, provincial or federal laws will be deemed ineligible. Sponsor’s (or its contractor’s) servers and clock will be deemed the official clock for all phases of the Contest, and entrant’s proof of a submission does not constitute proof of receipt by Sponsor. Sponsor is not responsible for (i) lost, misdirected, late, illegible, incomplete or unintelligible entries, or for inaccurate entry information, whether caused by entrant or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Contest, or by any technical or human errors that may occur in the processing entries; or (ii) any printing, production, human or typographical errors in any materials associated with the Contest.

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY. All Entries must be the original creations of the entrants. By submitting an Entry, each entrant grants to Sponsor a royalty- free, sublicenseable right to use, reproduce, transmit, modify (as to size, format and color correction, only), and display the Photo on Sponsor’s Web site(s) or Sponsor’s pages on social media web sites, such as Facebook or Twitter, for marketing and promotional purposes in connection with Sponsor and/or the Contest. Entrant also agrees that Sponsor may use entrant’s name with the display of the Photo. By submitting an Entry, each entrant represents and warrants that (a) his/her Photo is his/her original creation; (b) has not been copied or derived in whole or in part from any other work; (c) his/her Photo has not previously been distributed through any media channel; (d) his/her Photo (including all images and people depicted in the Photo) do not violate or infringe any copyright, trademark, privacy or publicity right, or other personal, proprietary or intellectual property right of any person or entity; (e) his/her Photo is not defamatory, libelous, obscene, or otherwise illegal; (f) his/her Photo is the sole and exclusive property of the entrant; (g) he/she has complete, worldwide distribution rights for his/her Photo; (h) he/she will not distribute his/her Photo through any media channel prior to the conclusion of the Contest on November 13, 2012, and (i) he/she has received the written consent of any person (or parent or legal guardian if such person is a minor) who appears in any Photo. If an entrant appears in his/her Photo, such entrant consents, by virtue of submitting his/her Entry to the Contest, to Sponsor’s use of the entrant’s name, likeness, photograph or image for any purpose, in any media, without compensation or additional consideration to entrant. Failure to obtain or provide such consent will disqualify the Entry. Sponsor may at any time during the Contest request proof of such consent and disqualify any Entry for which such consent cannot be provided. Sponsor may disqualify any entrant whose Entry Sponsor determines, in its sole discretion, at any time not to comply with any requirement described in these Official Rules or the foregoing representations and warranties.

Entrants agree to indemnify and hold harmless Sponsor and its parents, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies, contractors, directors, officers, employees and assigns, and any entity involved in any aspect of the Contest (including funding, judging or administration) (all aforementioned parties are collectively the “Released Parties”) for any action or claim brought by a person whose consent entrant did not obtain.

ENTRANT’S PERSONAL INFORMATION. By participating in this Contest, entrants are authorizing the transfer of personal data to the United States for purposes of administering the Contest, conducting publicity about the Contest and such additional purposes consistent with our goals or the Contest goals. By entering the Contest, entrants consent to our collection, use and disclosure of their personal information for these purposes and also to potentially contact entrants for marketing purposes. If you do not wish to be contacted for marketing purposes, you will be provided with a method to opt- out from future communications. You may update or change your “Notifications” settings in your account by logging into and selecting “Settings” for your account. If you do not agree to these terms or to Sponsor’s privacy policy located at, please do not submit an Entry.

JUDGING. From October 25, 2012 through November 6, 2012, each qualified Entry will be judged and rated by a panel of qualified judges selected by Sponsor using the following criteria: (a) relevance to the theme, “Connect”; (b) originality; (c) creativity; and (d) composition (collectively, the “Judging Criteria”). First Prize, Second Prize and Honorable Mention winners will be selected by the judges based on the Judging Criteria. In the event of a tie, the tie will be broken by the tied entries being judged and rated based on relevance to the theme, “Connect”. Winners will be notified by e-mail on or about November 13, 2012. In the event a potential winner’s Entry is disqualified, the entrant who submitted the next highest rated Entry will be the potential First Prize, Second Prize or Honorable Mention winner, as the case may be, and must comply with the requirements in these Official Rules. All decisions of the judges are final and binding.

PRIZES. The following prizes will be awarded:

  • First Prize: One First Prize winner will be awarded $5,000.00 USD in cash. The ARV of the First Prize is $5,000.00.
  • Second Prize: One Second Prize winner will be awarded $3,000.00 USD in cash. The ARV of the Second Prize is $3,000.00.
  • Honorable Mention Prizes: Four Honorable Mention Prize winners each will receive $500.00 USD in cash. The ARVof each Honorable Mention Prize is $500.00. The total ARV of all Honorable Mention Prizes is $2,000.00.

The total ARV of all prizes is $10,000.00. Prizes will be delivered up to 60 days after the winners are announced. ALL TAXES ASSOCIATED WITH ANY PRIZE ACCEPTANCE ARE THE SOLE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE WINNERS. All prizes awarded will be inclusive of any taxes Sponsor is required by law to withhold as well as applicable sales, use, gross receipts, goods and service, or similar transaction based taxes. All other taxes, costs and expenses associated with acceptance and use of any prize not specified in these Official Rules as being provided are the sole responsibility of the winners. IF TAXES ARE APPLICABLE TO THE PRIZE(S), IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE WINNER TO PAY TO THE APPROPRIATE AUTHORITIES. We reserve the right to substitute a prize (or portion thereof) for an item of comparable or greater value, at our sole discretion. All prizes will be awarded “AS IS” and WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, express or implied (including, without limitation, any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose). PAYMENTS TO CONTEST WINNERS ARE SUBJECT TO THE EXPRESS REQUIREMENT THAT THE WINNER SUBMIT TO SPONSOR ALL DOCUMENTATION REQUESTED BY SPONSOR TO PERMIT COMPLIANCE WITH ALL APPLICABLE STATE, FEDERAL, LOCAL AND FOREIGN (INCLUDING PROVINCIAL) TAX REPORTING AND WITHHOLDING REQUIREMENTS. Contest winners are responsible for ensuring that the tax documentation submitted to Sponsor complies with all applicable tax laws and requirements. If a winner fails to provide the documentation or submits incomplete documentation, the prize may be forfeited and we may, in our sole discretion, select an alternate winner.

CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION. Each winner will be required to sign and return an Affidavit of Eligibility and Liability/Publicity Release and provide any additional tax filing information (such as a W-9, W-8BEN, social security number or Federal tax ID number) as requested by Sponsor. Prior to awarding a prize, Sponsor may, in its sole discretion, require the potential winners to sign such additional documents Sponsor decides are necessary to confirm eligibility, to obtain a liability/publicity release, and to award any prize. Failure to return any required document by the date requested by Sponsor will deem the winner as ineligible to receive the prize. If any documentation is not returned by the specified dates or if a potential winner is deemed ineligible prior to the prize being awarded, Sponsor may, in its sole discretion, award the prize to the next entrant receiving the highest score.

ADDITIONAL TERMS. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to change these rules or cancel the Contest at any time, or to modify, terminate, or suspend the Contest should viruses, worms, bugs, unauthorized human intervention, or other causes beyond Sponsor’s control corrupt or impair the administration, security, fairness, or proper play of the Contest or submission of Entries, or in the event Sponsor does not receive a minimum of 50 qualified Entries from separate eligible entrants. If terminated, Sponsor may select winners from all non-suspect, eligible entries received as of the termination date using the judging procedure outlined above. Sponsor is not responsible for any human or other error that may occur in the processing of the Entries, nor is it responsible for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, theft or destruction, or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, Entries, or for technical, network, telephone, computer, hardware or software, malfunctions of any kind, or inaccurate transmission of, or failure to receive any entry information on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any Web site. Sponsor is not responsible for injury or damage to any entrant’s or any other computer resulting from downloading any materials in connection with the Contest. Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual found to be tampering with the entry process, the outcome of the Contest, or the operation of the Contest or Web site; to be acting in violation of these rules; or to be acting in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner or with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten, or harass any other person. CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT BY ANY INDIVIDUAL TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE ANY WEB SITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE CONTEST MAY BE A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS, AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, SPONSOR AND ITS AFFILIATES RESERVE THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES AND/OR OTHER RELIEF FROM ANY SUCH PERSON TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.

MISCELLANEOUS. The Contest and all accompanying materials are copyright © 2012 by, Inc. All rights reserved. By entering, entrants agree to be bound by these rules. No transfer, assignment, cash redemption or substitution of prizes is permitted except by Sponsor due to prize availability and then with prizes of equal or greater value. Entrants agree (for themselves and their heirs) that the Released Parties will have no liability, and will be held harmless by such entrants to the maximum extent permitted by law for any liability, loss, injury, or damage to property or to person, including death, and reasonable attorney’s fees and court costs, due in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, by reason of participation in the Contest, or by reason of the acceptance, possession, use or misuse of the prizes, even if caused or contributed to by the negligence of any of the Released Parties. Contest is governed by the laws of the United States and the State of Washington. As a condition of participating in this Contest, entrants agree that any and all disputes which cannot be resolved between the parties, and causes of action arising out of or in connection with this Contest, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, exclusively before a court located in King County, Washington having jurisdiction. Further, in any such dispute, under no circumstances will entrants be permitted to obtain awards for, and hereby waive all rights to claim, punitive, incidental or consequential damages, including attorneys' fees, other than entrant’s actual out-of-pocket expenses (e.g. costs associated with entering), and entrant further waives all rights to have damages multiplied or increased. By participating in the Contest, entrants consent to the use of their names, biographical information, Photos, images and/or likenesses in any manner and in any medium for any purpose in connection with the Contest, including worldwide, without additional compensation, except where prohibited by law.

WINNERS’ LIST. After the winners are confirmed, the winners’ names will be posted at until May 31, 2013.
