Daylight hours may be getting shorter as we enter September but the days are just packed. Photokina is a little over a week away and as expected, the announcements are beginning to ramp up. Last week, Sony's new QX cameras drummed up a lot of attention, IFA in Berlin produced a number of promising smartphone announcements, Canon's lenses got cheaper (sort of) and the bird was the word when the 2014 British Wildlife Photography Awards were announced. See what you may have missed in our look back at the last seven days
It's been a busy week and as we head into a long weekend here in the US, it seemed like a good time to take a look back at everything that's happened in the past seven(ish) days. Relive the highs, the lows, the weird and the wonderful with us, in this slideshow.

We've put it through the paces of a first impressions review and taken it outside in some very un-Seattle-like weather for extensive shooting. In the process, we've assembled some hands-on photos of the camera so you can get better acquainted with the FZ1000. See slideshow
CES 2014: After all of the meetings, hands-ons and reports were done, we spent a little time wandering the CES 2014 show floor, as we always do when time allows, and found a few interesting products on the side streets between the towering booths of major manufacturers.
