My choice of filters and why:
Hoya HMC UV(c), the best reviewed multicoated UV filter. I'm of the camp that believes in using a UV filter in lieu of a lens cap.
Basic Tiffen 0.9 ND (72mm) and circular polarizers. Basic B+W 0.6 ND filter (58mm). I've never noticed sharpness degradation from filters, and I don't shoot with these kinds of filters under conditions likely to cause reflection problems.
Tiffen Digital HT 0.6 ND grad. The only multicoated ND grad.

  • It's not so much that bad weather makes good photography--as it is that the bright, sunny weather that makes ordinary people want to go out and do things makes for BAD photography.
