  • That's NX mini - which sells at around $300 already in some places.

  • Actually BSI 1" sensors (RX series and NX mini) show comparable images to non-BSI m43 sensors.

  • So this camera is priced almost the same as Sony a7 with almost 8X larger sensor. Awesome.

Oh and now we have phones that can shoot 4K video (which is actually 8MP 30fps continuous shooting plus...

  • Very obviously, cropping and enlarging it to the same size makes the resolution lower and per-image noise higher. That's another way of understanding the equivalence. Smaller format cameras have to...

  • RX series are using BSI CMOS which has roughly one stop advantage over non-BSI ones. We are assuming that sensor technology used is THE SAME. (Which holds for most non-BSI CMOS sensor sony makes)

  • FIrst, you don't need 2.7 more stops. The area ratio is 3.24, and it translates into 1.7 stops. (2^1.7 = 3.24)

Second, RX series are using BSI CMOS which has roughly one stop advantage over...

  • You're confused with PER-PIXEL noise and PER-IMAGE noise.

  • I heard 56mm 1.2 is quite sharp nice open, so it may be quite comparable to *old* 85mm 1.4 lenses which I usually had to stop down a bit.

  • I am old timer myself and had a bunch of film-era photography books. And until APS (Yes APS FILM format that was only popular in asia for some years) comes out we couldn't change the film rolls...

  • Still way too expensive for what we get. Helios 85/1.5 has proper aperture, more than one stop faster and cheaper (used to be WAY cheaper)

  • The first thing you learn for digital photography is that ISO is another dynamic parameter you can fine adjust - just like shutter speed and aperture - to get the desired photography. You have to...

  • It is correct, because both has the same sensor area.

  • It is correct, because both has the same sensor area. It busts smaller format's 'reach superiority', by the way.

  • One observation is that designing the truly equivalent lenses for smaller format (35mm 1.0 for example for APS) won't be THAT hard, at least for mirrorless cameras, contrary to claims.

    See, nikkor...
