That's a nice lens though, and it's available less than $1,5k new. It's a very nice value. For what I do IS isn't all that much of a necessity and I can get by find without it usually too. The 400...

I wonder if it's some sort of hesitation to fit the integral extender into a body that could see harsh use, bumps, etc.? I don't quite know, I'm just speculating.
