İts like rolex watch. Surely there are multi functional army watches by far better priced from Casio
Or there are thousand other car brands. No need the drive Rolls-Royce ...

IT - IS - A -UNIQUE - LUXURY- ITEM !!!

I also don't see ANY logic to buy something exact same than Panasonic models. But this one is UNIQUE !

Its a beautifull 35mm F 1.7 Leica lens on a beautiful metal/leather body. And still complains.

4K.... what 4K many of you still has tv with tube and listening music via winamp !!! STOP COMPLAININ' !!!

Old Baldy: Nice camera! It hits a lot of my personal preferences.

But then, for pure IQ, it does not match a brand new old stock NEX-5T with a fantastically sharp Zeiss 32mm f/1.8 lens for similar price ($348+$720 = $1068) or the 5T + the three really strong Sigma primes 19mm, 30mm, 60mm $348+$199+$199+$209 = $955 - albeit with the zoom flexibility and slightly smaller size.

Pros of the LX vs the 5T+Zeiss
- better video (if that's important to you.)
- smaller, more pocketable. Perhaps its biggest advantage?
- nicer build?
- built-in VF (instead of optional add-on. Albeit fixed)
- better controls/menu system?

Cons
- Doesn't have the touchscreen (very useful to me)
- Doesn't have the tilting screen (very useful to me)
- Lower IQ
- Lens not as bright
- weaker high ISO performance
- lack of lens flexibility (telephoto, macro etc)

Regardless, this seems to be an intelligently designed, very capable and desirable camera. Would love to put one thru its paces!

Thank you Baldy, to check my photography and came all the way to reply.

As you checked my photography I've checked others. DPR studio and sample photos etc. Also I used to own a p&s Sony back in 2008. So my words are truly my own, personal decision.

İf it would be a beauty contest, Leica X. You'd already impressed the jurry by your intelligence as well !

Did Olympus teach you so ? Mein God....

What sacrifice !

Its not a GM camera ! Hence final product is far from being pocketable. Flash could be with it.

Sony colors are too soft. Canon has too sharp. Both looks artificial to me.

Olympus or Panasonic all the way !

I don't know your decision. But this "nightmare black" is not ny taste really. I liked to see a gray top plate as in gx7.

But white one is a beauty. Definite choice.

Look at beautiful GM1, GX7, PEN E-P5. What's wrong to have a built in flash !

There is even some kinda sense in "built in flash/add on evf" maybe companies can't sell evf enough that they put it built on. But how expensive to put a built in flash.

Why should it bothers anyone by its add on presence.

Otherwise graphs are fantastic ! Same sensor and no one needs any premium lens from landscape to portrait. Just killing cam but where is the flash !!!!

Direct link | Posted on Sep 16, 2014 at 02:55 UTC

After nine months, its still hurts when I touch the same spot in my wallet.

The spot, where 650€ gone to my Lumia 1520. Its an excellent thing. I don't even need a tablet or Olympus XZ-1 replacement.

And now for more amazing stuff (not the android piece of junk but the camera) amazing 900€ !!!

Keytsa: Winter...
It's 8 AM, sun is barely up in the sky, you're awake, and you grab your camera, feeling mighty to yourself because you know you just bought yourself a brand new 512GB Sandisk SDXC card...
You know you have around 7 hours of daytime, and you set your camera to burst 1 picture per second on jpeg fine setting. Your finger is itching, and you click shutter...
In your mind tought is passing what if it's not enough?! No, you wave, card is big, but you wonder, maby, jpeg is 8MB and 7 hours, no, I should have put 2 pics per second. Ha, well, tomorow...
Life does not get any better than this. :))

Winter... In Finland...

Where the battery (even a car battery !!!!!) in the biggest baddest camera would not resist more than 1 hour, in that kinda shooting scale :D

Not camera, not format (video 4K or even 444K !!!) no nothing is a critical factor for such memory unit. But battery limitation is.

Now Energizer, Duracell or something else turn: It's time to invent plutonium consumer AA battery :)

I suddenly remembered my high school days :) 1999 un particular, when there was Pentium III 500 mHz Pc's were expensive like nothing else, and a friend of mine throw his PlayStation's (the first one :) ) joy stick. His reason was "it was broken, he hit by electricity!!!" (which was vibrating only :) )

From these days to 512GB card ! Dude, in year 2000, 5000 year old Chinese archives takes only 120gb space!!!! Now it is .... I can't stop thinking of this , not trolling... But sounds like I am.

Ok I stop commenting on this.

MediaDigitalVideo: Dedicated to which 4K camera ?

@ Tan

I Agree on that. They actually consider selling that kinda "physical" stuff (contains movie(s), music album(s) nd painters art work.etc). Cards shoupd be the new cd /dvd /blurays now. Buying online (itunes etc.) Does not give chance to give/sell your property to anoter person. Even you buy it as your own !!!!

That would be so cool to own this card for a sports or new reporter... It can fit a DECADE inside !!!

Imagine; You start your career when Kennedy was the President and still there would be few hundred free shots to take Reagan's speech at West Germany, where he screams

"Mr. Gorbachov, tear down this wall !!!" :D

PS: Thanks to its price none of the consumers wanna buy this. Even some ultra rich idiots! I hope... Dude IT-IS-512-GB !!!!!! EVEN IT WOULD BE 128GB WHAT DA EFFFFFF.. !!!!!

As a phone Lumia products are flawless. Onyl thing that I wish to see is accessories as Sony made for its xperia line.

- camera pods
- battery built-in case
- durable cases.

And maybe a case, that I can put a C-mouth lens front of the camera and go nuts with photography :)

Samsung edge is a brilliant and elegantly styled idea. It would be my decision over watches.

Direct link | Posted on Sep 10, 2014 at 07:50 UTC as 4th comment

One thing (only one thing!) that I like on Apple phones is, they are physically same ! And many 3rd party producers world wide make harware stuff for iPhones. (tripods, special mic.s durable cases etc.)

BUT NOW there are two different model ! Apple should be brave to take a radical decision.

Either way would be radical; hold on the smaller phone or release a phablet only.

Now they give both... Lets see.

(actually as a Lumia 1520 owner the best size of phablet is 6" !... Anything smaller is phone, anything bigger is a tablet. Only Sony Xperia Ultra is the thin border line of the phablet. But its size only allows the lady customer, who already holds a handbag! Huge for a man without a suit, or any kind of jacket.)

Nokia holds its place for camera; The Top.

But real screen revolution was the Samsung edge from ifa. Such a great idea.

IPhone created a monster, which has eaten its creator in the end. Bye bye Apple ;)
