@xeriwthe - actually I woudln't say "when Canon and Nikon can"- look at the features via firmware Canon added to the 5DMKII (or was it MKIII) so long after the camera shipped, recently.
I just confirmed the upgrade did improve aF at least with the xf35mm f1.4 prime. I was able to find a 90% reproduceable lens aF slight hunt ("gone over aF point by a bit then back) and now its gone.
