  • Resolution and screen size are related though when it comes to perception. I'm not sure I know anyone who would even be interest in the gargantuan sizes that make 4K really appreciable.

  • ^This. DFD requires lenses to be well-profiled. Panasonic profiled its own lenses. I don't see how that's shady. Hell, for all I know it was legally all they could do.

  • The GH4 presents more "a few" new options and a better sensor, actually. Did you not read the article before commenting?

  • Being able to open up fast glass for optimal light gathering and still have enough DoF to focus the subject as intended is a shortcoming? Oh, okay.

  • ...Too short? 300mm at 2x crop is 600mm. 600 mm. What exactly are you trying to photograph? Martian stones?

But yeah, most any lens can be adapted to m43 cameras, if you're fine with manual focus....

  • They say mirrorless cameras aren't very good at tracking autofocus, but this great parkour video was apparently shot with the GH2's autofocus:...

  • This is one of the reasons I like m43. Glass can be faster without DoF getting TOO shallow. If Sigma, Olympus, or Panasonic could pull off 12-35mm f/2, I'd be set. ^_^

  • "Chaos theory is a field of study in mathematics, with applications in several disciplines including meteorology, physics, engineering, economics and biology. Chaos theory studies the behavior of...

  • $330? Makes me REALLY appreciate the wi-fi features in Panasonic's new m43 cameras. O_o

  • With a cell phone pushing 4K, there's clearly no good reason for manufactures not to soon release 4K-capable DSLR's and DSLM's. That said, I have no interest in 4K. I just want 10-bit 4:2:2 1080p.

Yes, Panasonic's core strength in this arena is video. That's old news since the GH1, and it's strange that people still act as if shooting video is some minor niche.

At any rate, it's still a...

  • No way the human eye can appreciate 4K on a mobile display. =/

    I don't change the functions often...and my memory isn't failing. >_>'

The Gh3 has a sony sensor, and it has better DR and ISo performance, but it also has way more moire. I'd prefer less moire, so I'm glad that kept their in-house sensor, as they apparently know how...

...How can you have an subjective 'opinion" on a factual mater? More of a guess or an assessment really.

Also, I doubt Vitaly would have let the stock bitrates be so low if he had any say.
