  • Some people hate working with the Blackmagic anyway because it's unwieldy.

At any rate, that's only a concern if you're going for 4K mastering, which is overkill for most people. If what you want...

  • Clean HDMI out means yes, but you may need a device like the Blackmagic Intensity.

  • Aye, that you can't control the speed of the transition is a disadvantage, but the actual point is that it ISN'T true that the camera can't know where you want to focus.

As for it not knowing how...

  • The GH4 is superior to its very capable sibling FZ1000. It's autofocus is better, for one thing. It also has more features. The FZ1000 doesn't have focus peaking, zebras, etc.

  • 4K captures produces better 1080p. Not all manipulation of 4K footage is about 'fixing mistakes', so folks should stop talking about it that way.

  • That's what happens when you sample 1:1. Neither camera really has moire at 4K. It's just that, unlike the GH4, the Sony samples its 1080p from the 4K capture for output, apparently:

    "The Sony, by...

  • You know the Lumix G line has had touch screen focus since at least the GH2, right? You can pull focus to exactly where you want.

Example: 'Panasonic Lumix G6 sample video 5: touch-screen...

  • Resolution and screen size are related though when it comes to perception. I'm not sure I know anyone who would even be interest in the gargantuan sizes that make 4K really appreciable.

  • ^This. DFD requires lenses to be well-profiled. Panasonic profiled its own lenses. I don't see how that's shady. Hell, for all I know it was legally all they could do.

  • The GH4 presents more "a few" new options and a better sensor, actually. Did you not read the article before commenting?

  • Being able to open up fast glass for optimal light gathering and still have enough DoF to focus the subject as intended is a shortcoming? Oh, okay.

  • ...Too short? 300mm at 2x crop is 600mm. 600 mm. What exactly are you trying to photograph? Martian stones?

But yeah, most any lens can be adapted to m43 cameras, if you're fine with manual focus....

  • They say mirrorless cameras aren't very good at tracking autofocus, but this great parkour video was apparently shot with the GH2's autofocus:...

  • This is one of the reasons I like m43. Glass can be faster without DoF getting TOO shallow. If Sigma, Olympus, or Panasonic could pull off 12-35mm f/2, I'd be set. ^_^
