SmartBot will turn your smartphone into a camera robot

SmartBot is part virtual pet and part programable project.

Finally, your smartphone can walk with you and smile at your jokes. For 160€, SmartBot will roam around your house, following voice commands and playing games.

SmartBot can use iOS, Android, and Windows Phone 8 devices of any size and works with a handful of apps and accessories. Using your smartphone’s front and back-facing cameras, SmartBot can navigate its way around many household obstacles.

SmartBot’s Kipp app encourages users to “invite SmartBot to a party and he will take pictures by himself, thanks to his face-recognition capabilities.” Because of the smartphone placement on the SmartBot, the Kipp app uses the lower-megapixel front-facing camera.

Accessories for the SmartBot include an arm for grabbing objects and colored cubes and balls that can be used to build mazes or trigger specific reactions.
