Wireless charging now for Samsung S4

5

New wireless charging devices will help Samsung Galaxy S4 users stay powered up without getting tangled up. Two new accessories for the S4 were announced today, the Wireless Charging Pad ($49.99 USD) and Wireless Charging Battery Cover ($39.99). Both are Qi-certified by the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC), a universal standard for wireless charging, which means you could also use the pad to charge other devices that support Qi charging, such as the Nexus 4.

Android Central offers a look at the pad in the video below:

Is there any disadvantage to wireless charging besides thicker phone? Any negative battery impact? Whatever else?

I've been using wireless charging with my Nexus 4 for a few months, now. I'll never go back. I look forward to cameras adopting this tech. Cables are for yesterday.

There is nothing conveniant to wireless charging when you have to place the phone on a device that has to be connected to a computer, how about just connecting it to a socket seeing as no matter what you have to connect wires.

The idea, of course, is that you leave the charging station plugged in permanently and just put your phone on it whenever you're at your desk (or wherever you put your charger).
