Hipstamatic readies Oggl Pro app for new Nokia Lumia 1020

Hipstamatic's new Oggl Pro app is now available exclusively for Nokia's Lumia 1020. Advanced feature additions include manual control over exposure, white balance, ISO and shutter speed, as well as an auto-level indicator, the yellow line in seen across the image above.

While Hipstamatic became beloved among lo-fi mobile photography fans for what it didn't do (digital "film" and "lens" combinations force users to choose the outcome of their image in a uniquely lomographic way, without the option to revert these choices later), the app developer now seems to be far more forward-focused on apps that offer more control, both pre- and post-capture.

Hipstamatic officially releases its most advanced photography app to date today in the form of Hipstamatic Oggl PRO, currently available exclusively on the Nokia Lumia 1020. Like Hipstamatic's Oggl app released in May, the app comes with five familiar Hipstamatic lenses and five films. Oggl introduced Hipstamatic fans to filter previews to test the look of lens and film combos before shooting a scene, as well as post-capture selection of different film and lens options. The app also allows for sharing via Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, as well as Hipstamatic's own new social service, also called Oggl.

But Oggl Pro also offers more, including manual control over exposure, white balance, ISO and shutter speed, as well as an auto-level indicator. Hipstamatic is also extolling the virtues of the app's zoom capabilities, but we're sure this has far more to do with the 41-megapixel Lumia 1020's oversampling algorithms more than anything else.

We've had a sneak preview of Hipstamatic's new Oggl Pro app and enjoyed seeing what it could do on the Lumia 1020. If you've used Oggl, you'll see plenty of similarities in the user interface.

Hipstamatic says dual capture will also be available soon on the Oggl Pro app.

We particularly loved this result using the new Oggl Pro app with the Loftus lens and DC film selected. Of course if we didn't, we could opt for any other lens and film combo within the app, post-capture — and addition that came with Hipstamatic's Oggl app in May.
This black & white version was shot with the Jane lens and BlacKeys SuperGrain film.

To get more lenses and film for your Oggl Pro app, Hipstamatic offers two subscription options: quarterly for $2.99 or yearly for $9.99, both of which come with access to Hipstamatic’s entire archive of gear. But Hipstamatic is offering 60 days of complimentary access to users who download the app and create an account by September 9, 2013.

Hipstamatic is also releasing the previously iOS-only Hipstamatic Oggl today for Nokia Lumia 928, 925, 920/920T, 822, 820 and 810, Samsung ATIV S and HTC 8X. New users can also take advantage of the complementary lens and film access for accounts created by September 9, 2013.
