5 impressive videos shot with the Lumia 920

11
Nokia's Lumia line of smartphones packs some impressive cameras.

Nokia has made a point of paying close attention to the imaging capabilties of its smartphones for some time now. The latest devices in the Finnish smartphone maker's Lumia line continue to push mobile photography tech forward, with the new Lumia 928 introducing a more powerful xenon flash and the new Lumia 925 offering a redesigned 6-element lens and an ISO 3200 setting.

But the current Lumia 920 model is plenty capable too, as evidenced by a roundup of fairly impressive short films shot on the device which the official Nokia blog shared this week. The subjects of the films vary from snowboarding stunts to oceanside contemplation, but they all have one thing in common: they were recorded on Lumia 920 smartphones.

This must be the best video on any smartphone. Anyone disagrees?

The Lumia 920 has Nokia's Pure View technology on the rear camera, featuring an optically stabilized 8.7-mega pixel BSI image sensor (1/3" sized, much smaller than the previous Nokia 808 Pure view) with f/2.0 Carl Zeiss Tessar lens, short pulse high power Dual LED flash and 1080p HD video capture. The front camera encloses a mega pixel sensor capable of capturing HD video at 720p. On September 6, 2012, Nokia apologized for an advertisement showing a video supposedly shot from somebody holding a Lumia 920 on a bike, but which was shot by somebody holding a camera in a van (as it can be seen in the reflections on a window). A ZDNet contributor however published an article entitled "Hands-on testing of Nokia Lumia 920 shows Nokia didn't need to lie about PureView performance.

The video of the aboriginals is just unbelievable in quality. Absolutely unbelievable.

I guess I'm just being picky, but after watching videos from EOS SLRs tweaked with ML-firmware, these look blocky and lacking of fine details. Especially the 1st video was suspiciously coarse, even at 1080p. Something wrong maybe?

Video from mobile phone in 'not as good as a dedicated camera with much bigger sensor' shocker.

My point was that the videos are nothing special compared to other mobile phones.
