Sony's newest sensor already at work in Chinese phone

The Find 5 smartphone from Chinese manufacturer Oppo makes use of Sony's 13MP Exmor RS sensor.

While we wait for Sony to put its Sony Exmor RS 8MP/13MP stacked CMOS sensor to use next year in its Xperia smartphones (as expected by sites like the Xperia Blog), a Chinese manufacturer is already sharing images from its newest device  that uses the 13MP Exmor RS sensor.

Oppo, maker of the new Find 5 smartphone, has shared some sample images on its website which, like most sample images from a manufacturer, look terrific. Oppo's website purports the Find 5 to be world's first camera phone to support HDR video and 120 frames per second capture speeds, thanks to that Sony sensor.

isn't it already on the Xperia TX, aka Xperia LT-29i aka, the Bond Phone?

Nope. This stacked structure is different from the Exmor sensor used in the TX. The new sensor is called Exmor "RS".
