Double Dutch Nuns by Jose Chavarry won at the Mobile Photography Awards in 2011.

The deadline for this year's Mobile Photo Awards is drawing nearer.

Participants have until December 15th to enter up to 20 photos. There is a submission fee of $20 for 3, $30 for 5, $50 for 9 or $100 for 20 images. Each photo can be entered into up to 5 of the 20 categories—ranging from portraits to landscapes. We sponsor the “Connect” category for photos relating to the central theme of “what does the word Connect mean to you?”

Along with cash prizes, winners will have their work shown in the SOHO Gallery for Digital Art in New York City from February 22 to March 8. Eight of last year’s winners sold prints for $1,300, setting a record for mobile photography print sales.

The App Whisperer Joanne Carter recently interviewed Daniel Berman, founder of the Mobile Photo Awards, about the awards and the art of mobile photography. Note that you may need to click on the sound wave image or the App Whisperer icon to listen to the interview on SoundCloud.
